-I think they discussed about Uruguay to tell readers where Old Christian team is located in the society of their country. Also the discussions conveys their importance within their country. “Its a hard game-fine if played with skill, brutal if played clumsily.” (pg 5)
2.Why do you think they flew off even though they knew the weather was bad?
-They were sure that they can go over the Andes. The pilot was trained, and everyone in Argentina believed that they would be fine. “At least it got over Andes,’ one of the girls replied tartly, ‘which is more than yours will’” (pg 21)
3.How tragic was the plane crash? Was plane still in one shape?
-The plane was demolished into a lot of pieces. Many were wounded and a few were killed. “Without either wings or tail, the plane hurtled toward the jagged mountain, but instead of being smashed into pieces against a wall of rock it landed on its belly in a steep valley and slid like a toboggan on the sloping surface of deep snow.” (pg 26)

-They are reacting as if it some apokalipse. And I think this is normal. Honestly, I think every parents will go insane when their children gets deserted in middle of Andes

-I think people know are treating the team as dead people already. They donated money to make a new team, and remember the old team and how they passed away.

-Avalanche broke out, collapsing onto the survivors. They are having one of the biggest challenge in the book. “when he felt a faint vibration and an instant later heard the sound of metal falling to the ground” (pg 120)

-Avalanche buried most of them, instantly killing them or killing them slowly due to its temperature. Only few survived . “He too was buried, imprisoned and suffocating” (pg 124)

-It was tragic. People weren’t prepared for such disaster, and it looked like they had no more hope “If we wait here any longer, we’ll all get killed by another avalanche” (pg 130)

-The rescue mission was called Operation Christmas. I believe the reason meaning behind the name was that the parents wanted to bring their children back home by Christmas. “They named it Operation Christmas” (pg 208)

-Considering that the radio had a lot of broken wires come out from the radio, I don’t believe that it could be fixed. They would have to find a new way for SOS plan.

-Back at Fairchild, the survivors were fighting with one another and some were taking more food than they were supposed to. Along with the fighting, cliques were being made. For example, the cousins formed their own group. “Carlitos once rebuked Sabella for not doing any work” (pg 214)

-I think people are now worried about their own lives. Food is going low, and there is other people that you have to share with. I think that is causing people to fight for food, and make sides. “Don’t you trust me?” (pg 221)

-They chose to hike the mountain because they couldn’t wait for rescue forever. Also, they were desperate and they had to make some what kind of move. “He embraced his two companions and set off down the mountain” (pg 250)

-They had hoped the tail created a cross for luggage. Instead, the cross was formed by geophysicists as an experiment. This meant that the planes would never come close enough to see the cross nor spot the survivors.

-There were many factors as to why it was difficult for the Air Force to find the survivors. First, the plane had engine problems because of the cold weather and high altitude. Third, when they spotted or heard of footprints, they disappeared by the time they returned. “What would he be doing walking in the snow in the middle of nowhere?” (pg 274)

-I feel like it was very fun for a non fiction book. The book made me get scared about riding planes, and the overall plot was fun and exciting.
