This book, Alive by Piers Paul Read, honestly was too long. We loved the story but in our opinions, thought it was redundant.
However, we thought the plot line was amazing! Not only was it fun, but it is also a true story. Read does a good job on telling it.
In the book, there are many details that Read includes which makes it easier for the reader to imagine the scene in their heads.
Since Read paints the picture in our scene so descriptively, it was really easy for us to imagine how scary the Andes mountains are.
By reading the first few pages, we could tell the book was going to be fun. Read transitions very smoothly, from one scene to next.
Only Read could be capable of writing this well. Although Alive is a true story, it almost seems impossible. How did they survive?
Of course, we're not saying that Read is a liar for exaggerating a story. This is exactly what happened. Doesn't that freak you out?
Kind of does, for us anyways. It made us think about our selfish actions. How we complain to our moms for not giving good food.
It just didn't seem right doing that anymore. We felt so guilty for saying those things while some people had to eat human flesh.
Sadly, that's how humans are. No matter how good of a condition we are in, we just want more. It made us feel very embarrassed.
Being able to eat what we want or any food, could be obvious to some, but to others, it is what they pray and wish for everyday.
Only Alive could make us think this way, because the story was that deep. It has so many deep messages in it, it is a must-read.
Read this book, and you won't forget it. Keep in mind that we are not advertising. These are just a few honest thoughts we have.
If you don't like reading non-fiction, it doesn't matter because you won't be able to say that after reading Alive by Piers Paul Read.
Not only is this a good book, but it makes you a better person. Not only is it a fantastic read, it is a true story, a non-fiction.
Get it? ;P
